Regretfully, the 2011 Prairie Village Jazz Festival had to be cancelled on Saturday due to a damaging storm that tossed our stage equipment about and soaked all of it thus preventing the continuation of the festival .  With the straigh-line winds, horizontal rain, lightning and hail, and reports of possibly more on its way, the decision was made to cancel the festival.

We wish to thank our sponsors, Crawford Sales Co., BRGR and Urban Table, Tutera Family Communities, UMB Financial Corporation, Lane4 Property Group, Fry Orthodontics, Renewal by Andersen, US Bank, and all of our donors.

We wish to thank our vendors, Crawford Sales, BRGR and Urban Table, Culver’s, New York Dawg Pound, RA Sushi, Butterfluff Popcorn, for being on board and supporting us this year as well.  The food was cooking and the crowd was eating and drinking.

We wish to thank the staff and Prairie Village Police Department and Public Works Department who organized quickly and helped us make the decisions to stop and get everyone to safety.

Our amazing and proactive committee members who are volunteers, and our army of volunteers who were also helpful in gathering up all the wet  t-shirts and tickets and programs and signs and who helped every way they could.

We have had inquiries from people regarding the purchase of CD’s and T-shirts.  We will have available for purchase at City Hall CD’s from our final performer Shay Estes and also Shawnee Mission East & Jazz Festival T-Shirts.

For those out there that were still streaming through  the parking lot at 8:15pm when I left, we hope you will come back next year and we are most thankful that everyone involved are safe and unhurt.
